The off the track guide to the ASBK
The mi-bike Motorcycling Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) is set to take place from the 5th – 7th of August at Morgan Park Raceway- not far from the historical town of Warwick, QLD in the Southern Downs area.
And while the racing will hold the attention of many, there is so much to see and do whilst in the area and wee thought we’d offer our thoughts on some great “other than racing” options during the weekend.
The most important part of visiting a new place is having a nice place to stay. The area surrounding Warwick has some amazing options of accommodation to suit the needs of everyone. As rated by previous travellers and ASBK regulars, these stays are in the top spot and are a great choice when coming to see the ASBK.

There are plenty of options to choose from when spending the night in Warwick and the Big 4 Caravan Park is a perfect choice for families as it also offers a playground for the kids. All are just a short drive to the track, perfect for the race weekend.

Whilst ASBK will be the major attraction during the weekend, the area surrounding the Morgan Park Raceway also boasts amazing sites. The town of Warwick has many historical sites to visit such as:

For those looking for more adventure, the amazing scenery of Southern Downs will be sure to dazzle. Make sure to check out the Girraween National Park, an hour’s drive from Warwick which has over 800 species of flowering plants- a perfect place to take photos.
A few other options for the adventure and nature seekers:
- Darling Downs Zoo – a 30-minute drive from Warwick
- Cherrabah Resort – perfect for a day of horse riding and quad bike riding
- Leslie Dam – a great spot for fishing, but don’t forget a fishing permit
There is plenty to do before and after the race but make sure to also bring scooters and skateboards when staying in the area so the kids can enjoy the skateparks, as well as the playgrounds Warwick has to offer.

To finish off a fun day at the racetrack, there is nothing better than a good meal. These are some of the top restaurants to try.
- Ruperts Bar and Grill – great for steak options
- Char-Belas Restaurant – a great choice for pizza lovers
- The Malthouse – tasty burgers on the menu
- Soban House – delicious Japanese and Korean food
- Bluebird kitchen and Smokehouse – a variety of options on the menu and great for kids
All are situated in Warwick near the track and hotels. Rupert’s Bar and Grill have a range of options, from Pasta to Steak and will be sure to cover all tastebuds. For some different flavours, Soban House offers a Japanese and Korean food delight.

A quick coffee pit-stop is always a necessity before a big day at the track. The Cherry Tree Coffee and Dining is only an 11-minute drive from the track and an ideal stopover for all. The following cafes are also great options:
