ShopYamaha R3 Cup expands in 2025

By MA Media 0

The 2025 ShopYamaha R3 Cup has expanded to four rounds, with racing to begin at the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) Night Race at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 28-29.

The ShopYamaha R3 Cup is a Yamaha/BLU CRU activation that runs around the world, and has proven to be a respected path for young and aspiring circuit racers to cut their teeth and develop skills to take their racing to the next level.

The increase to four rounds will provide more racing and, with the backing of Yamaha Australia’s online store, ShopYamaha, nearly $20,000 worth of prizemoney is up for grabs in this year’s series.

“We are delighted to return with the ShopYamaha R3 Cup for 2025, but also increase it to four rounds,” said Yamaha’s National Marketing Manager for Parts and Accessories, Tara-Lea Albury.

“We will continue our support of the R3 Cup as well as offer a $200 ShopYamaha voucher for the fastest qualifier at each round.

“Last year I was impressed with the action as well as the riders getting behind ShopYamaha with logos and branding on the race bikes. I look forward to another great year working with the ASBK team and crowning another champion at season’s end.”

The ASBK Management team also values the ShopYamaha R3 Cup, maintaining the synergy between the ASBK Championship and those around the world. It also provides another stepping stone in a rider’s pathway that sees them start with the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup before moving to the R3 Cup in competition across Australia, Asia and Europe.

“The ShopYamaha R3 Cup started in Australia nearly a decade ago as a combined Motorcycling Australia/ Yamaha Motor Australia project, and to see it continuing into its 10 year is a real credit to both parties,” said Motorcycling Australia National Operations Director, Martin Port.

“The series has been a major addition to race programs around the world, and we are working closely with the R3 Asia-Pacific Championship and R3 World Cup to ensure the pathway is open for riders to continue their journey into international racing.

“We look forward to witnessing some of the closest action on any given weekend when these young adrenalin-fuelled riders hit the track.”

The 2024 ShopYamaha R3 Cup produced sensational racing, including this tussle between Jesse Stroud (#127), Will Nassif (#65), Jordy Simpson (#33) and Valentino Knezovic (#48)
