Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia Winton Bound
With just two rounds of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK) left for 2018, Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia’s Josh Waters and Markus Chiodo are keen to chase victory and climb the championship standings, starting with this weekend’s round six at Winton in Victoria (7-9 September).
Josh Waters is looking forward to climbing aboard the Suzuki: “We found some pace in Morgan Park and I’m looking forward to taking that momentum into round six. Winton is a tight circuit, with an abrasive surface, but it’s fun to race on. We tested well here last week, so although it will be a tough battle I expect to be back in the mix, with lots of close racing.”
Winton Raceway is just outside Benalla off the Hume Highway, just a couple of hours North-East of Melbourne.
“Winton is actually the flattest circuit on the calendar this year, so it’s a great place to come and watch racing,” said team owner Dale Brede. “It’s really tight, so expect to see some very close racing as everybody puts it on the line to take the title this year. The whole team has an air of confidence after Morgan Park, and I think that the GSX-R1000R will be at the front of the pack again.”
For Markus Chiodo it’s another chance to race the 2018 Suzuki GSX-R1000R. “So far 2018 has been quite a learning year for me. In the last few rounds we have started to make in-roads towards the front guys and we just need to keep taking steps to edge closer each time we’re out on the bike. I believe that if we can keep improving my qualifying position on Saturday, it will set us up for some good results after a positive test here at Winton.”
Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia will be on track for qualifying on Saturday 8/9/18 at 11:10am and 3pm, followed by racing Sunday at 11:10am and 1:45pm. Don’t forget you can watch the racing LIVE on SBS and Fox Sports, or watch the live stream via www.asbk.com.au
