Levy’s Perseverance Pays Off

Although it’s been a challenging year for Mitch Levy in this year’s Australian Superbikes Championship, his unfailing determination and resolve finally paid off during last weekend’s seventh and final round, rewarding him with a pair of top-10 results.

Getting his campaign underway at Phillip Island Circuit back in February, the 23-year-old and his privateer team have been chasing a top-10 finish ever since; however, as they battled with setup during the past six rounds, they managed to maintain their ‘never give up’ attitude, with this persistence ultimately delivering them with their best result yet.

Continuing what had been a solid start to round seven at the renowned and picturesque Phillip Island Circuit, placing 11th in Sunday morning’s warm up, Levy, from the Sydney suburb of Dural in NSW, performed strongly during his opening race, managing to record his maiden top-10 finish for the year, coming home in 10th.

Determined to back up this performance in race two, his final race for 2018, Levy did just that, this time improving even further to place ninth, with his results being enough to earn him a pleasing seventh place overall for the round.

“We couldn’t be happier to end the year on such a high with a solid weekend and this does the world of good for my confidence,” expressed the # 68 All Types of Rubbish / Manshed Auctions supported Yamaha rider.

“There are certainly a number of challenges that come with being a privateer team, particularly when we’re going up against a number of factory teams who have a lot more resources at their disposal, but we’ve certainly persisted this year and we were rewarded with a strong finish.

“I can’t thank my team and all of our sponsors enough for continuing to support us and helping get us compete at every round. Without everyone who has played a part in getting us to this point, I simply wouldn’t have been able to race, so these results are as much theirs as they are mine.”

A model of consistency in Friday’s practice sessions, Levy placed 11th, 13th and 10th, before recording the 10th and 13th-fastest laps in his two qualifying sessions on Saturday.

Banking 107 points during his 2018 Australian Superbikes Championship campaign, Levy finished 13th in the overall point standings.
