Levy Leaves Wakefield Park with Australian Supersport 300 Overall Win
The Australian Supersport 300 class is wide open this year at the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK), as there were two different race winners at Wakefield Park Raceway for Round 2. Zac Levy (Puma RV’s, Yamaha YZF-R3) leaves Goulburn, with the overall victory after claiming two victories.
Hunter Ford (South Sydney Commercial, Yamaha YZF-R3), Levy and Oli Bayliss (Cube Racing, Kawasaki Ninja) took out the three races, but it was Levy who maintained his consistency throughout the weekend’s racing on the tight Wakefield Park Raceway to take the overall victory.
“I’m really happy to come away with the overall win, its been a long time since ive won and overall, and this one means a lot, I’m really happy to take the win for the team,” finished Levy.
Bayliss backed up his overall win at Phillip Island with a second overall at Wakefield Park Raceway, and Tom Bramich (SJG Plumbing, Yamaha YZF-R3) rounded out the podium in what was an up and down weekend for Bramich.
Race Two:
Levy is proving to be a Wakefield Park Raceway specialist here at Round 2 of ASBK. Levy battled the hot temperatures and blustery wind to take out race two of the Australian Supersport 300 class.
Levy was in a battle for the majority of the race with Ford, Bramich and Locky Taylor (LTRacing, YZF-R3). Bayliss joined the lead pack on lap five, and the pack swapped position at almost every corner.
The lead pack was only separated by 0.811s with Bramich taking second, Bayliss sliding into third, Ford settling for fourth and Taylor rounding out the top five.
“I really like this track and have great memories here, this win is a big one is for me and I knew I had to get in front with the new red flag rules, and I did that and it paid off,” Shared race winner Levy.
The race was declared on lap eight with the riders seeing a red flag because of a crash.
With two different winners in race one and two, the battle for race wins is heating up. The Australian Supersport 300 class will be back out on track at 1:10pm for race three.

Race Three:
Levy has won race three of the Australian Supersport 300 class by the slimmest of margins piping Bayliss by a hair, at Wakefield Park Raceway for Round 2 of ASBK.
The Australian Supersport 300 race got off to a very unusual start with pole sitter Ford getting tangled up in the warm up lap and missing the race.
Once the race got started the battle for the lead was on, with Bayliss, Levy, Bramich and Taylor all going back and fourth over the course of the 10 laps.
Both Bramich and Bayliss made moves from third position to take the lead during laps 5 and 7, but the ultimate move from Bayliss came on the second last corner.
The battle down the final straight was enthralling and any of the four could of taken the win, but Levy took the win with Bayliss in second and Bramich rounded out the podium, whilst Taylor had to settle for fourth.
“The wind out there is terrible, if I’m honest id probably rather be watching than riding the bike, but really happy to take the second, and its puts us in a good position in the championship” shared Bayliss.
There was also a battle raging on for fifth position with Taylor Relph (North Star Yamaha, Yamaha YZF-R3), Harry Khouri (Acid Racing Aust., Yamaha YZF-R3) and Jarred Brook (Wide-Bay Motorcycles, KTM RC390) going toe to toe for vital championship points.
Khouri got the better of the battle and took fifth position, Relph sixth and Brook finished seventh.
