Kelso Conquers GP Juniors Cup at Winton
Joel Kelso (JDS Moto, Yamaha YZF-R15) was simply unstoppable for the GP Juniors Cup here at the Spokes.com.au presents Round 6 Winton Motor Raceway. The International racer has come back to Australia for a short stint in the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK) and it has yielded great success with Kelso securing maximum points this weekend.
Taking another victory in race two of the GP Juniors Cup at Winton was the Northern Territorian specialist Joel Kelso, with a margin of +4.223 seconds ahead of the chasing pack. Kelso had a crash in the morning warm-up, so he was relieved to be able to take part in the race.
Incredibly he managed to break away from the other riders, managing to use his pole position to his advantage. The battles behind him were pretty intense, as they crossed the finish line in the five-lap race.
Luke Power (G.Williams Eng., Yamaha YZF-R15) came second, Max Stauffer (Rock Oil, Yamaha YZF-R15) came third, John Lytras (Caboolture Yamaha, YZF-R15) fourth, Harrison Voight (Voight Contracting, Yamaha YZF-R15) fifth, Angus Greenfell (ABU Engineering, Yamaha YZF-R15) sixth and Josh Noden (J.B.J Builders, Yamaha YZF-R15) closed the race in seventh.
Fastest lap of the race went to Kelso, which was no surprise to see with a 1:46.492.

GP Juniors Race Three
Adding another victory to his trophy cabinet was Kelso for the GP Juniors this weekend. He won the race in a tactical masterclass.
With Lytras, Power and Stauffer battling it out behind him, Kelso made sure to make a break for it and avoid the turmoil. Kelso took victory by 4.512s, joined by Lytras and Power on the podium. Fastest lap of the race once again went to the Northern Territorian, Kelso.
Kelso won the overall round with maximum points, ahead of Power and Lytras. Stauffer leads the championship with 298 points, ahead of Lytras with 284 and Kelso with 140 points in the championship fight.
Young Kelso commented; “I’m really happy with the results this weekend after having a crash this morning in the warm up. I just ran my own race and put my head down. Big thanks to Jimmy’s Chop Shop for getting me down here this weekend, Bracksy for the bike and GP Juniors for making this all possible. I saw there was a battle behind me and I just wanted to get away from it as quick as possible!
