Joel Kelso set for the ASBK Finale at The Bend!

The rising star of Moto3, 19 year old Australian Joel Kelso will join the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship, presented by Motul (ASBK) in the Alpinestars Superbike class for the final round of 2022 at The Bend Motorsport Park November 25-27.

The opportunity to work with his former crew chief and current Livson Racing top technical guru, Jake Skate, has proved a tempting option for Northern Territory-raised Kelso, who will join the Livson Racing squad after his Moto3 test at Valencia where he will have his first outing aboard the CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP Moto3 bike.

Shortly after, at The Bend Motorsport Park at the ASBK finale, Kelso will be aboard a Jake Skate prepared BMW M1000RR for his first-ever race aboard a superbike and indeed his first-ever race laps aboard a bike with over 100 horsepower. 

It is predicted that the Alpinestars Superbike class will not be decided until the final race of 2022. Further, with a swathe of wildcard and one-off riders set to join the championship.

Joel Kelso: “I’ve known Nathan (Spiteri – Livson Racing team owner), for a long time, and that combined with the chance to work again with my old crew chief and friend Jake Skate, it was an easy decision to come back home and race in the ASBK championship!

“I’m really excited to share the track with people I’ve grown up watching the racing and people who have supported me so far in my career, and I know it will be a lot of fun racing against all the ASBK regular’s and I’m looking forward to having some fun and racing a completely different bike to what I am used to!”

The finale of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship, presented by Motul (ASBK) will take place from November 25-27 at The Bend Motorsport Park.
