Halliday Puts the Number One Plate on Pole

Cru Halliday (Yamaha Racing Team, YZF-R6) continues to dominate the Kawasaki Supersport class with another pole position at the Spokes.com.au presents Round 7 Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. This marks the sixth time in a row that Halliday will lead the chasing pack this year in the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK).

The Yamaha Racing Team rider admitted Phillip Island has never reaped the best results for him in the past, but he credited the team for delivering him a fantastic motorcycle. His fastest time was a scorching 1:35.570.

Halliday sharing; “It’s great to get pole here at Phillip Island and to put the number one plate, on the number one grid position. The team have been fantastic and the bike has worked well all year. Hopefully we can put two great races together and aim for the lap record tomorrow. I know Tommy will be there in the race and I have to keep cool, calm and collected.”

Tom Toparis (Cube Racing, Kawasaki ZX-6R) once again claims second on the grid for tomorrow’s racing, managing a fastest lap time of 1:36.156. The Cube Racing rider admitted that he is struggling to find the same feeling on the bike that he had earlier in the season to take the fight to Halliday.

Damon Rees (Carl Cox M-sport, Honda CBR) continues to excel this season with another front row start in third. He is also still in contention for a top three finish in the championship for this year.

Callum Spriggs (Yamaha YZF-R6) has only raced in selected rounds in 2018, but he continues to showcase exceptional pace whenever he returns. He managed a podium back at Morgan Park so he could put himself back in contention here at Phillip Island.

Max Croker (Mladin Racing, Suzuki GSX-R600) is fresh from a win at Winton Motor Raceway but fifth was the best he could manage in Qualifying today. He will be looking to claw his way up the pecking order for tomorrow’s races.

The last two races of the 2018 Kawasaki Supersport Championship will kick-off tomorrow at 10:35am and 1:35pm. Make sure to tune into Fox Sports and SBS from 1:00pm AEST or the all-day live stream on asbk.com.au.
