Goulburn locals meet the ASBK stars ahead of Round 2

The town of Goulburn was a hive of activity this afternoon, as the 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli, competitors were met with crowds of fans, in what was a successful street activation to launch Round 2 of ASBK at Wakefield Park this Easter long weekend.

Fans were treated to meeting the ASBK stars this afternoon, including Goulburn local Troy Herfoss and his Crankt Protein Honda Team truck, Yamaha Racing Team’s trio Glenn Allerton, Wayne Maxwell and Cru Halliday, as well as young guns Jon Daniel Racing’s Daniel Falzon and Knobby Underwear Suzuki rider Brayden Elliott – the late arrival of Anthony West taking fans by surprise.

It was Herfoss however who was the man of the hour, with family, friends and fans gathering to get close to his Superbike machine and the man himself.

Herfoss appeared quietly confident ahead of this weekend’s events, and treated fans to an autograph and a photo as he made his way around Belmore Park this afternoon.

“It’s refreshing to come down to Belmore Park in the centre of town and show off the bikes and the truck. The weather is shaping up good and it’s Easter time so everyone is happy,” he said.

“The test last week at Wakefield Park went exceptionally well, better than was anticipated, and if the weather stays good, I am confident we will be competitive on the grid.

“Having these activations is great for the sport. For the locals to see just how big the team and the truck is, and to be able to get up close and personal with the bikes is great for the fans.

“I love events like this, and I love meeting people who have the same interests as I do, for me its good fun talking about motorbikes all day long.”

At the conclusion of the meet and greet this afternoon, fans walked away with arms full of give-aways, signed posters and pictures, and a smile that couldn’t be mistaken.

The ASBK race teams will now prepare for the first practice sessions at Wakefield Park Raceway for Round 2 of the Australian Superbike Championship here in Goulburn tomorrow.

There is still a chance to catch all of the ASBK action this weekend – head down to Wakefield Park Raceway tomorrow for free entry Friday, or get down to the venue on Saturday and Sunday for all the racing action.
