Ford Does the Double in YMF R3 Cup
Hunter Ford (YRD, Yamaha YZF-R3) has claimed another victory at Morgan Park in the YMF R3 Cup at Round 5 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK). The win coming shortly after winning in the Australian Supersport 300 earlier in the day. This now places him in a great position to contend for the championship.
The race was another close fought affair with the top five separated by only .711s. Ford took the victory ahead of Tom Bramich (JLT, Yamaha YZF-R3) in second, Locky Taylor (Shark Leathers, Yamaha YZF-R3) in third, Harry Khouri (Excite M-sports, Yamaha YZF-R3) fourth and Zac Levy (Puma RV’s) rounding out the top five positions.
Ford sharing; “It’s hard to sum up that race. We managed to get the lead on the final lap and kept it until the end. I was cheering to the finish! The others have some marks on their leathers but I tried to steer clear of it. Great race and it’s a bonus to gain back points on Zac.”
Bramich stating; “I think there are a few marks on my leathers after that race. It felt like anyone of us in the top five could have won. I’m happy with the result because we started the weekend with a few niggling issues and it’s good to be at the pointy end. We’re here to have fun and keep progressing the bike.”
Taylor saying after the race; “At one point, I was first coming off the straight and next thing I knew, we were back to fifth, so that was a hectic race. There was so much chaos on every lap.”
