Elliott looking to end the ASBK season on a high at Winton
Brayden Elliott will be looking to end his maiden season in the Australian Superbike Championship on a high at this weekend’s final round at Winton Motor Raceway. After a season that has seen Elliott finish in the top five, in addition to a pair of trips to compete in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, it has all amassed to a perfect learning year for the Tumut rider.
Following a season in the Australian Superbike Championship that has seen Brayden travel to all corners of the country, the reigning Australian Supersport Champion has delivered a committed and determined performance in order to develop his Knobby Underwear Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Superbike and his own riding style to match the best road racers in the country .
“I am really excited heading into the final round of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship at Winton Motor Raceway. After some really positive testing in the build up to the round, I am certainly feeling confident within myself that I can put in my best efforts for a strong result to end the year. I feel as though I have been making big steps forward on the Superbike and learning a lot at each round throughout the year. I am feeling comfortable on the Knobby Underwear Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and with my confidence continuing to build, I know I am getting closer to where I need to be,” Elliott said.
Working with both Phil Tainton and Shawn Giles throughout the year both in testing and racing, Brayden has sought to develop a strong package for both outright lap speed in qualifying and consistent pace for racing. With Winton being a track that Elliott knows well from past competition, he is feeling confident heading into the event for a big result.
“The whole team are working extremely well and I know our set up and bike package is strong, Winton is a track that I know well and I really think if I can put the pieces together, I am capable of a strong result. The tight and technical layout should work in favour for the good mid-range power of the Suzuki which is where I will be looking to take advantage on some of the key areas of the bike compared to my opposition,” Elliott added.
Benalla’s Winton Motor Raceway is considered by Brayden as almost a home circuit and with that, each year brings plenty of local support trackside. Considered a very good viewing track for spectators, it will be a prime opportunity for Elliott’s supporters to witness the Knobby Underwear Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Superbike compete around the twisty compilation of corners for the final time in the Australian Superbike season.
“Although still a few hours from Tumut, I nearly regard Winton as a home circuit and I can’t wait to see all of the local supporters making the journey to watch an action packed weekend of racing. I have to thank everyone for their ongoing support throughout the year and ill be hoping to bring home a big result to cap off my first season on the Superbike,” Elliott concluded.
The final round of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship takes place at Winton Motor Raceway, Benalla, Victoria from 30 September – 2 October.
