Elliott confident ahead of Sydney Motorsport Park Superbike outing

Tumut’s Brayden Elliott is looking to deliver a back to back top five performance on the Knobby Underwear Suzuki GSX-R Superbike at this weekend’s third round of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park with Elliott looking to further progress from his Wakefield Park results that saw him finish fourth overall in just his second ever event at the top level of road racing in Australia.

While the Wakefield Park event provided a strong confidence boost for Brayden on the Superbike, it also acted as an important points increase as the half-way point of the season approaches. The Sydney Motorsport Park track acts as a stark contrast to the last round with its wide fast flowing corners and long straights, providing for multiple passing opportunities with Elliott looking to carry on his successful form.

“After finishing round two of the Australian Superbike Championship in a very positive way, my preparation ahead of round three has continued to be confidence enhancing as we prepare to race at Sydney Motorsport Park, a circuit I know well.”

“I was really happy to finish round two with some solid championship points but more importantly gaining definite notes on certain areas I need to improve on in the Superbike category. This has been crucial for me to move forward allowing me to put in place manageable goals that I can work on,” Elliott said.

Reflecting on the success of the 2015 season, in particular his race wins in Supersport at Sydney Motorsport Park, Brayden enters this weekend determined to continue to lay the foundations of a strong debut season in Superbike while also working towards picking up that elusive first podium in the premier category.

“As I did in the Supersport class, I will work hard to better myself and round by round I know we as a team are capable of achieving our set goals. Each race has been very important to learn from some of the more experienced riders and I know as we put the pieces together I will continue to improve.”

“I have won Supersport races at Sydney Motorsport Park only adding to my confidence levels ahead of the round. With some positive testing taking place I feel as though my motivation and focus toward the round has been great, I cant wait to once again have the team by my side racing the Knobby Underwear Suzuki GSX-R 1000,” Elliott added.

Brayden will be on track for one practice session and two qualifying sessions on Saturday and two twelve (12) lap races on Sunday.

Round three of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, NSW from April 16-17.
