Classic Hi-Tec Batteries Supersport 300 Race One at the Island
Max Croker (KTM Australia, KTM RC 390) claimed pole position this morning for the Hi-Tec Batteries Supersport 300 class ahead of what was yet another classic race that eventuated in Race One at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, part of the Spokes.com.au presents Round 7 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK).
The highlight of Race One was the battle at the front between competitors Reid Battye (BCperformance Junior Team, Kawasaki Ninja 300), Billy Van Eerde (KTM Australia, KTM RC 390), Oliver Bayliss (Cube Racing, Kawasaki Ninja 300) and Tom Bramich (Ron Angel Classic, Yamaha YZF-R3) this afternoon that resulted in overall victory for Bramich who also took victory for the ‘Over’ runners.
Bramich took full advantage of a very tightly fought full contact battle that saw Battye crash out uninjured on Turn 2 in the opening laps, braking through the melee for the first class win of the weekend in today’s eight-lap affair. Bramich only finishing 0.184s ahead of Bayliss and 0.253 in front of Van Eerde.
The ‘Over 300″ class Race One podium saw Bramich stand on the number one mat, with Van Eerde and Croker in second and third respectively.
The winner for the ‘Up To’ class was Cube Racing’s Bayliss with Yanni Shaw (BCperformance Junior Team, Kawasaki Ninja 300) in second and Drew Sells (Race Centre, Kawasaki Ninja 300) rounding out the ‘Up To’ podium.
With the stage set for another hard-fought battle tomorrow, (Sunday) tune in for races 2 & 3 at 10:10am and 1:55pm.
