Four ASBK Championship riders have already kicked goals – literally – ahead of the ASBK Sydney Night Race at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 28-29.

In a unique partnership with the Macarthur Bulls A-League club, SW-Motech Superbike trio Glenn Allerton, Jonathan Nahlous and Max Stauffer and Kawasaki Supersport rider Hayden Nelson took on a different kind of challenge at Campbelltown Sports Stadium as they joined in a skills session and penalty shootout with emerging Bulls stars Alexander Robinson, Frans Deli and Joshua Damevski.

Round two of the Australian Superbike Championship is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

But just to add an extra degree of difficulty into the mix, reigning Supersport champion Nahlous and three-time Superbike champion Allerton doubled down on the challenge and donned race suits – which also provided an extra layer of protection for Nahlous when he was peppered with some piercing shots during the penalty shootout!

The Macarthur players were suitably impressed by the skill, versatility and athleticism of the ASBK quartet, particularly their crafty footwork and powerful kicking.

Could the ASBK riders make it as professional footballers? Stauffer’s cousin is already part of a football academy in Spain, so there’s some pedigree in that family!

The Yamaha and Ducati Superbikes of Nahlous and Allerton also took on ‘goalie’ duties, producing blemish-free scorecards, while the ASBK riders also gave the Macarthur Bulls players an insight into the electronic wizardy on a modern-day Superbike – with the trio particularly taken by Nahlous’ handlebar-mounted rear brake setup.

“It was a brilliant day on the pitch,” said Nelson. “We learnt a lot from high-performance players in how they go about their preparation and taking those all-important penalty shots, and they enjoyed looking around our bikes and asking lots of questions.

“It’s great to see two very different sporting codes coming together, ahead of another big match for Macarthur and of course our ASBK round in Sydney.”

A few members of the Macarthur Bulls FC coaching team will now get taken out of their comfort zone when they attend the ASBK Sydney Night Race to experience the adrenaline-pumping thrill of a two-seat Superbike pillion ride behind Steve Martin and Troy Corser!

With the pre-race fun now done and dusted, riders will now turn their attention to the ASBK Sydney Night Race, which will be held for the third consecutive year at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The blockbuster March 28-29 event will feature all the classes under the ASBK umbrella – SW-Motech Superbike, Kawasaki Supersport, Race and Road Supersport 300, ShopYamaha R3 Cup, bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup and Superbike Masters – across 15 action-packed races on Friday and Saturday.

The popular pitlane walk will also return, where fans will have the opportunity to get up close to the motorcycles, meet their favourite riders and grab a photo or autograph on Saturday between 6:10-7:25pm.

The ASBK Fan Zone, Mini Moto program and Trade Alley will also be in full swing with industry displays and a wide variety of food trucks and a restaurant.
