ASBK riders make a splash ahead of the Night Race at Sydney Motorsport Park

With round two of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) commencing in less than 12 hours, some of Australia’s fastest ASBK riders have enjoyed some pre-event fun at Raging Waters Sydney.

Combining one of Western Sydney’s most popular tourist attractions with speed-loving Superbike stars was certain to guarantee loads of excitement and competitiveness on the ‘H2Go Racers‘ slide, as the riders participated in a series of knockout races to kickstart the high-octane theme ahead of the much-anticipated ASBK Night Race on March 22-23.

The riders in attendance were reigning ASBK Superbike champion Troy Herfoss (Ducati), Josh Waters (Ducati), Tom Toparis (Yamaha), Cameron Dunker (Yamaha), Max Stauffer (Yamaha), Cru Halliday (Yamaha), Broc Pearson (Ducati) and Paris Hardwick (Kawasaki).

The Australian Superbike Championship is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

There were tight battles all the way to the final, with the ‘King of the Slide Award’’ won by Tom Toparis.“It’s good to get out here to Raging Waters Sydney and use it as a cross-promotion tool for both tourism in the area and ASBK,” Sydney local Cru Halliday said. “Being a local boy, I enjoyed coming to a tourist attraction I’m well familiar with and had alot of fun with my fellow competitors ahead of the ASBK Night Race.

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend.”

While it was all fun and games at Raging Waters Sydney, the riders have now turned their attention to the unique ASBK Night Race, which is sure to be another spectacular event and a brilliant way for regional, interstate and overseas visitors to enjoy the world-class venue.

The ASBK Night Race allows spectators to come after work on Friday afternoon, or at night, to catch all the qualifying action and the opening races for the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup, Superbike Masters and Race and Road Supersport 300 classes.

On Saturday, the racing moves into top gear, with all the action taking place over the afternoon and into the evening after the sun sets.

The ASBK pit-walk experience also returns, where fans will have the opportunity to get up close to the motorcycles, meet their favourite riders and grab a photo or autograph. ASBK ambassadors Chris Vermeulen, Garry McCoy, Steve Martin and Troy Corser, as well as Peter Goddard and Mat Madlin, will also be on location for the free fan engagement experience on Saturday between 6:30-7:00pm.

Corser, Vermeulen, McCoy and Robbie Phillis will also feature in an on-track Superbike Masters parade on Saturday night.The ASBK Fan Zone and Trade Alley will also be in full swing, complete with a giant screen for ASBK TV, manufacturer and industry displays, a wide variety of tasty food trucks, and a restaurant.Bringing the family along?
