Supersport rider Kane Burns says Auf Wiedersehen at Round 3 of the 2016 ASBK season

It has been a twist and turn of events this year for the young Motul Supersport competitor Kane Burns. A Wild Card at Round 1 of the 2016 FIM World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island, Burns is now preparing to head out at Sydney Motorsport Park on board his Suzuki GSXR 600 to compete in Round 3 of the ABSK; but that’s not all that is on the young mans mind. Burns will board a plane this Monday, with his sights set on the German IDM Championship.

Yet another Aussie abroad, the young 19 year old will travel by himself to meet his new team, and new home, for the next six months with only a week to prepare for the first German round, but before all that, Burns’ attention is firmly focused on lining his Suzuki Supersport machine on the front row of the Motul Supersport grid this weekend.

Burns, having missed the first two rounds of the ASBK Championship and having never competed at Sydney Motorsport Park before, will head out for his first practice session tomorrow morning, ready to turn some laps and get race ready for Sunday. Burns, with great excitement,  shared his thoughts leading into this weekends racing.

“I had a Wild Card at Phillip Island, and our attention was focused on the Wild Card for the first round, and unfortunately things didn’t quite go to plan which saw me miss the second round at Wakefield Park, so this weekend we are building on my experience and the bike for Sydney Motorsport Park,” he said.

“I am feeling confident for this weekend. The bike is feeling really good out on track, there are still a few things to fine tune but I have had great help from past Supersport competitors picking up tips, it’s just great to be back out there on the bike.

“I am looking forward to getting as much experience on the bike as I can as after this round I am flying out to Germany, I have taken another turn in the season but I am excited to see where it leads,” Burns concluded.

After a few phone calls and a lot of planning Burns announced late last week that he had confirmed his ride in the Team Stoneline Suzuki Mayer ahead of their season opener at Germany’s Nurburgring next weekend.

“I heard about it through Anthony West and made a few phone calls, they confirmed with me that I had received the ride in Germany with Team Stoneline Suzuki Mayer and from then on we were starting to prepare.

“Everything has been very last minute with only a couple of weeks to prepare for not only round three at Sydney Motorsport Park but also for the next six months in Germany. Everything has been a mad rush.

“I have come to round three of the ASBK for one last ride here before I leave.  I will be returning in October for the Australian Moto GP, so we are going to have one last crack and see how we go this weekend.”

With many exciting opportunities coming up for the young Supersport rider, round three will see Burns battle it out for the last time this season amongst the competitive Motul Supersport grid.
