Herfoss joins DesmoSport Ducati; will compete at round one
The open secret is out: reigning ASBK Superbike champion Troy Herfoss will join DesmoSport Ducati in 2024.
After already testing and competing on the Panigale V4 R over the ASBK off-season, Herfoss officially joins DesmoSport Ducati in a ‘development’ role, opening up Superbike opportunities for the Gold Coast-based rider around his American commitments in the King of The Baggers class of MotoAmerica. He’ll also actively support DesmoSport incumbent and new teammate Broc Pearson behind the scenes in the 2024 ASBK Championship.
At this stage it’s unclear which ASBK rounds Herfoss will contest, but he is locked in for round one at Phillip Island from February 23-25. After that, there’s only one calendar clash between ASBK and MotoAmerica – July 12-14 when the Baggers will be in action at Laguna Seca and the ASBK paddock will be at Morgan Park Raceway.
“I’m just really excited for the year ahead,” Herfoss said. “I love riding bikes, and challenging myself – that’s definitely what’s ahead of me.

“It’s no secret that (DesmoSport team manager) Ben Henry is a good mate of mine, so I’m excited to play a role in helping the team succeed at home and I’m grateful for the opportunity to maintain my race craft on a fast bike in between races overseas.
“Broc is doing a great job and I’m looking forward to spending more time with him and the team for a strong championship campaign.”
Herfoss’ move to Ducati marks a major shift in hardware for the 37-year-old, who has won all three of his ASBK Superbike titles on the inline four-cylinder Honda, including last year’s championship. He’s now forging a new path on the Ducati V-four.
Henry is delighted the three-time champion is joining his outfit, and believes his influence on Pearson and the wider squad will be invaluable.
“It’s great to have Troy part of the team this season,” he said. “Broc is riding really well, with significant improvement, especially through the last part of 2023, and Troy brings a level of experience that is incredibly beneficial to not only the team but Broc as well, where we’ve already seen some improvement from.
“We’re getting set for a strong season ahead and I’m really happy we’ve been able to have a bike for Troy to ride when he’s home, and appreciate his support of our season goals.”
The first round of the 2024 mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul will take place on February 23-25 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit alongside the Superbike World Championship opener.
